Samsung Smart Signage revolutionizes a central library into a smart library
Cheongju University renovated its central library after three decades of its opening with Samsung SMART Signage that stands out in the renovated library. Samsung SMART Signage is well received by university students for providing kiosks and video walls that deliver the necessary learning content. The Signage has transformed the central library into a smart library with state-of-the-art technology.
Realizing a new smart library
Cheongju University had a plan to renovate its central library after three decades of its opening in 2017, the 70th anniversary of its foundation. As it has been regarded as one of the most prestigious private universities in central Korea, the university wanted to introduce a new smart library with the best digital infrastructure by thorough renovation.
Optimizing library experience and ensures ease of use
A “Window for Communication,” providing necessary information to use the library
One of the first things you see when you enter the lobby is the “Samsung SMART Signage” video wall, a window for communication. To look at this Signage is to understand why the library is called a “smart library.” This large video wall, composed of a total of four “Samsung SMART Signages,” delivers pertinent information on the use of the library and campus life. University students can get information through the “window for communication” about remaining seats in the library, as well as the weather and time. All this information is updated in real-time. It provides information about notification or campus-map for the benefit of campus life. “A single touch shows remaining seats in the library, which makes it really convenient to use the library,” said a student who visited the central library
Making it smarter to use the library by providing information customized for each space.
Cheongju University installed the kiosks with “Samsung SMART Signage” all over the library to provide greater convenience for students. This makes it easier and faster for students to find the information they need through the kiosks. The “Information digital board,” installed next to the user service center, delivers various guidance information, making it more convenient to use the library. You can find various information about the facilities, remaining seats, and personnel, as well as watching promotional videos about the university. The E-Newspaper kiosks in the lobby also catch your eyes. The 4 E-Newspaper kiosks deliver the content of English newspapers, major newspapers, and local newspapers that are updated daily. Through the clear and vivid display of “Samsung SMART Signage,” students can take a look at the front pages of various newspapers. Students can also enter keywords to find news or arrange news by section, making it easier and more convenient than ever to find the news they want. The “Global Info” in the “Global Study Lounge” on the second floor provide information about student exchange programs and notification from partner universities. “Samsung All-in One PCs are installed next to the Global info, allowing for easy Internet search. Furthermore, the kiosks, “All about book,” gives information including recommended books, new books, popular books, and book rental history. These large displays are available for any purpose thanks to “Samsung SMART Signage” with FHD.
- Superior picture quality that ensures video wall panels compatibility by direct tuning and calibration
- Super ultra slim bezel that helps concentration on the contents
- Interactive display that realizes touch kiosk providing contents and information
Providing students with an efficient and convenient learning environment
Cheongju University Central Library, which was reinvented as a state-of-the-art digital library based on IT technologies, has changed the entire concept of the library. This innovative change has been made possible in part thanks to the philosophy of Yunbae Kim, the former president of the university, who said that there must be a pleasant and high-class learning space where students want to stay longer. As students are highly satisfied with the new digital learning space, more and more universities are visiting the library for benchmarking.
“The innovative changes made by the central library in Cheongju University have been made possible thanks to the advanced technology of Samsung Electronics. We are very pleased to provide our students with an efficient and convenient learning environment by adopting Samsung’s cutting-edge system,” said an official from the university.
